Our basic needs were met: a comfortable retreat at the end of busy days. Our room was quiet and warm. Thank you.
There were no problems during our stay. I would only recommend that guests who are pedestrians get into training before checking in – you have some challenging steep roads to negotiate.

Functional and newly renovated room, the bathroom was good quality. The location was easy, at a short distance from a friendly historical museum.

tbh, had a very nice stay for one night of my trip. many things to mention - everything was impeccably clean, amazing food, nice views. it had handy and amazing location around 4-6 minutes' walk from hydroslide. you could walk to the main shopping centre and shopping malls. my suite was functional, stylish. the staff were all attentive, very amiable.

Location, rate and inhouse dining were top priority for us and The Kingsgate scored well in all these.
The double beds would be better as queensize, and need a soft top layer in the mattress. There was serious staff shortage in the kitchen due to snow blocking roads. This led to exccesive delay in filling diner orders. They need to think up some workable contingency plans for this sort of incidence.

What a charming old place! Loved the sweet folks at the front desk, always ready to help. The breakfast was like a warm hug in the morning, tons of choices. I could do without the parking hassle though, real tight squeezin'. It felt cozy and a bit like home, just wish they'd fix up some of them creaky bits.

Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Very clean room
The walls do not seem to be very soundproof at all. It was the worst of the five hotels we stayed in on our recent trip. We could hear what the people were saying next door to us.

Location/Tariff excellent,
The receptionist upon arrival certainly didnt go out of his way to welcome us to the establishment. He was efficient but no warmth, reminded us of someone who was called in as a replacement and didnt want to be there.

Great relaxing hotel, had really really nice stay.
I booked a suite, it was functional and had central heating, TV set and a fridge. The bed was good; and there was bathtubs.

Our room was spacious and clean and ideal for just a place to sleep overnight. The staff were helpful with advice re things to do
Our room was obviously ready for refurbishment, decidedly battered and tired

great size rooms, fantastic black-out curtains, clean bathroom
The hotel is in urgent need of redevelopment!!! The soundproofing is inadequate, allowing conversations from adjacent rooms to be clearly heard. The location also struggles with limited parking and steep access that complicates entry!!!

Friendly helpful staff. Hotel was nice and central to the city and restaurants.
Shame about only double beds being available.

I loved the location, very handy to the centre of Dunedin. The room was spacious, quiet and value for money. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again if I was back in Dunedin.
I would have liked to have been advised there was a charge when paying by credit card, as I would then have chosen fpos to pay instead. Did not realise at the time I had been charged the fee.
